The Commission on Filipinos Overseas (CFO) announced that Filipino leaders from 30 countries across six continents are set to convene on 16 June 2026 at the Manila Marriott Hotel in Pasay City for a landmark dialogue on global Filipino influence and diaspora engagement.
Carrying the theme “Transformation Through Diaspora Engagement: Harnessing Filipino Global Power in Advancing the Philippines' Cultural, Economic, and Political Goals,” the summit is expected to gather around 350 non-resident Filipinos (NRFs), alongside representatives from government, business, and civil society.
Delegates from the United States, Australia, Saudi Arabia, Canada, Singapore, Japan, the United Kingdom, Hong Kong, South Korea, the United Arab Emirates, France, Germany, Italy, Qatar, and several other countries are expected to participate in discussions centered on how overseas Filipinos continue shaping industries, communities, and policy spaces worldwide.
The summit positions the Filipino diaspora not only as economic contributors through remittances, but also as cultural ambassadors, innovators, entrepreneurs, and advocates influencing global conversations.
“Wherever we are in the world, our shared heritage remains a powerful force,” one delegate shared ahead of the gathering. “By staying connected and contributing our talents and expertise, we continue creating meaningful impact both for the Philippines and for our communities abroad.”
This year’s slogan, “Dugong Pinoy: Filipinos Transforming the World,” underscores the growing recognition of Filipinos as a global force across industries and nations.
The one-day summit will feature four major panel discussions tackling diaspora advocacy, economic contributions beyond remittances, cultural preservation, and youth engagement among second-generation Filipinos abroad.
Among the panel moderators are lawyer and educator Atty. Karen Olivia Jimeno, economist Prof. Solita “Winnie” Monsod, UP Asian Center professor Dr. Jocelyn Celero, and broadcaster Gretchen Ho.
The event will also include ceremonial signings of Memoranda of Understanding between the CFO and partner organizations, culminating in a Declaration of Commitments aimed at strengthening long-term collaboration between overseas Filipinos and the Philippine government.
As the summit approaches, delegates continue to frame the gathering as both a celebration of Filipino identity and a strategic conversation on the diaspora’s expanding role in national development.
