Hank Moody just got out of his coma. Marty Kaan just put his tie on. Fiona is back in ‘mom’ mode.
And Frank Gallagher is stuck somewhere in Mexico.
Last night saw the premieres for three of Showtime’s biggest hit TV shows – Shameless, House of Lies, and Californication.
As the only one-hour show on this block, Shameless is back for a third season. Starring Emmy Rossum, Justin Chatwin and Oscar-Nominated William H. Macy, the show that leaves its fans blushing returns with a more mature and natural feel, but still with all the crazy fun that makes it worthy of its namesake.
House of Lies, meanwhile, is in its second season, and picks up after the night that Don Cheadle’s character, Marty Kaan, “may or may not have” with Jeannie Van Der Hooven, played by the gorgeous Kristen Bell.
In the show, Kaan is the leader of a ‘crack team’ of management consultants, who do anything and everything they can to close the biggest CEOs and corporations, all while having crazy fun in the process. Of course, Cheadle’s character is also conflicted by having to deal with his own inner demons, raising a gay son with an ex-wife who is also his biggest professional rival, and his complicated relationship with Van Der Hooven.
Finally, the great Tom Kapinos brings back David Duchovny and the gang from Californication for Season 6. Duchovny stars as the great writer, and even greater fuck-up Hank Moody, who wakes up from another near-death situation.
The show, which also stars Evan Handler, Natascha McElhone and Pam Adlon, promises to be as jaw-dropping as ever, with the story evolving around Hank’s constant struggles with keeping his relationship with his family.
And, of course, Hank’s constant self-abuse and promiscuity are still major parts of the plot.
Shameless is on at 9pm ET, followed by House of Lies at 10, and Californication at 10:31 on Sundays on SHOWTIME.
