Catch These Budding Indie Talents at the ‘One Stop Record Fair’

While this quarter’s iteration of the fair will primarily feature over 30 sellers offering an array of music, art, and collectibles, Collectors Con has also set up several live performances which should draw foot traffic and interest from fans all over.

As enthusiasts become further immersed through different vinyl records, cassettes, CDs, audio gear, and vintage collectibles made available through this fair, their experiences will also be enhanced by local talent, emotive performances, and DJ sets.

Notably, Filipino multi-talent Edgar ‘Bobot’ Mortiz, renowned actor, comedian, singer, and director from GMA Network will hold a live performance of his latest album, ‘Goin Standard,’ coinciding with its vinyl launch. Following this performance, attendees can meet Mortiz in person for a special vinyl album signing session. 

The up-and-coming artist lineup for this event includes Waki Ignacio, Xy Araneta, Patricia Palmejar, and Jem Cubil.

  • Waki Chua Ignacio

Joaquin ‘Waki’ Chua Ignacio is a 22-year-old vocalist and lead guitarist of Waki & The Winstons. He alsoperforms for two other bands, Suspiria Pink and Crashing Past Midnight. He was the former Vice President for the Presentations Committee of the University of the Philippines’ (UP) Music Circle. Inspired by musicians such as John Mayer, Stevie Wonder, and Cory Wong, Waki enjoys playing genres that include blues, funk, and rock.

Previously known as ‘Cutting Corners,’ Waki & The Winstons was established in 2022. They have gained notoriety from being invited to various gigs, namely the NU Fairview Junior Marketing Association’s One Benefit Concert in 2022, and SaGuijo Café + Bar’s ‘ATLAST THE ROADSHOW’ in 2024. The band’s first single, Make-Believe, was released in May 2023. 

  • Xy Araneta

As he is just starting his singer-songwriter career in February 2024, one thing people sknow about Xy Araneta is that he has always had a passion for music and media art alike. Before his career pivot, he was a video post-production professional. On his personal Instagram account, he has showcased his talent for music through various covers, earning himself some notoriety as a solid newcomer.

Hailing from Iloilo, Xy looks forward to making a name for himself in Metro Manila’s music industry. 

  • Patricia Palmejar

While still currently enrolled at Adamson University, Patricia Colleen Palmejar has already proven herself to be a talented singer-songwriter. Currently, she is a prominent member of HIMIG – Musicians of Adamson University, the official student music organization of AdU, and has performed in various on and off-campus events.

In AdU’s 2022 Paskong Adamsonian, Patricia composed an original song titled just that – “Paskong Adamsonian,” (An Adamsonian Christmas) – which was performed live by HIMIG. In 2023, the AdU Student Government released the song’s official music video, where she is featured as the vocalist and guitarist. 

  • Jem Cubil

Pilipinas Got Talent Grand Finalist and one of the top finishers in The Voice of the Philippines, Jose Emmanuel ‘Jem’ Cubil is an accomplished musician that capitalized on his success with reality competitions. He has done live and television appearances, namely on Wish 107.5 and CenterPlay, City of Dreams, Manila.

Jem is currently signed with Viva Artists Agency. While he has been uploading music covers on Youtube since 2014, he finally decided to venture into the indie music scene in 2019 with the release of his first single, “Midnight Streetlight.” As of 2024, he released his first album titled, “Little by Little.” 

With live performances by talented Indie Filipino artists, and a bevy of diverse art and music, Collectors Con promises a day of creativity and connection.

*One Stop Record Fair will be on March 16, 2024 at the South Wing Atrium of the Greenhills Mall, San Juan from 10 AM to 9 PM.
