Jodie Foster Gives Amazing Speech at Golden Globe Awards

While every other news outlet might hone in on the slight footnote that she came out of the closet last night, the fact still remains that Jodie Foster gave one of the most riveting award show speeches in a long time.

To the suspense and anticipation of a crowd of peers and fans, Foster said, which had everyone burst out laughing:

“So I’m just going to put it out there, loud and proud. I’m going to need your support on this. I am… Single.”

“So I’m just going to put it out there, loud and proud. I’m going to need your support on this. I am… Single.”

Foster was introduced by Robert Downey, Jr., who was teased by Tina Fey as an actor so versatile, “He was able to play Iron Man in three different movies.” Downey, of course, worked with Foster in the 1995 film “Home for the Holidays.”

Receiving the Cecille B. DeMille Lifetime Achievement Award, Foster had the room laughing, hooting, and eventually crying. She had every pair of eyes moved and focused towards her.

And in a light-hearted and eloquent delivery, she conveyed her thanks and regards to the people that have been a part of her career.

As she put it, “47 years in the business is a long, long time.”
