Lydia Calas is a sign language translator that has stood right next to Mayor Mike Bloomberg during today’s press conferences, and she’s been busy. She has been signing with such gusto and bravado.
Lorne Michaels himself must be really busy right now, too.
The word/hashtag #swag has also been thrown around a lot. Twitter has gone on a full-scale share mode with all sorts of media on Calas, who has clearly gotten everyone’s attention. In this weather, despite power outages and the cold, (along with Señor Miguel Bloombito‘s efforts to communicate to the Latino community) Calas has become an overnight pop culture star.
