An Open Letter From GK-USA:

Dear All,

GK USA recently activated its call for support in response to the appeal made by GK Headquarters in Manila for the devastation caused by Typhoon Pablo (international name: Bopha), which directly hit provinces in Mindanao. More than 300 people died, hundreds are reported missing, and thousands lost their homes in the first Super Typhoon (equivalent to Cat 5 Hurricane) that hit the Philippines in 22 years.

News reports indicate that a total of P4 billion in agricultural damage was caused by massive flash floods in many areas in Mindanao. What used to be populated communities in many areas in Compostela Valley and the Davao Provinces are now in complete wreckage, with totally damaged and unlivable structures.

At this very difficult time in the Motherland, GK USA reaches out a helping hand to our Filipino kababayans. In response to the appeal made by Gawad Kalinga’s Operation Walang Iwanan through GK Executive Director Luis Oquinena, GK USA immediately pledged to release $12,500 to support ongoing emergency operations.

Once again, we seek your help by responding to this call for support and help spread the information to your own network in the United States including family and friends.
