#VineRecipe: Baked Salmon in Soy-Brown Sugar Marinade

One of the best ways to prepare salmon is by baking, primarily because of the ease in doing so. All you really need is to preheat your oven and baste your fish, pop it in the oven, and, voilà, you’re done.

Ingredients:

  • Salmon fillet (any other cut will do, in this case we used 3 lbs.)
  • Soy Sauce (1/4 cup)
  • Brown sugar (1/4 cup)
  • Garlic (granulated or fresh)
  • Mrs. Dash Lemon Pepper
  • Lemon slices
  • Canola/Extra Virgin Olive oil
  • Pepper (to taste)  – approx. 2 tea spoons should do it

*You will also need some aluminum foil.

Directions:

Before baking the salmon, I wanted a crispy skin as well. If you would like this textural difference, too, then simply sear the skin-side of the fish before baking on medium to medium-high for about four minutes. It also helps speed up the cooking time a bit.

After that, place the fish on a tray with aluminum foil.

Coat the foil with some canola or olive oil before you place the fish, so it does not stick on the vessel.

For the marinade, simply add all ingredients in a bowl,  mix, and brush on the fish. (This marinade really can work on any protein.)

Add a little more of the lemon pepper, and/or your lemon slices (which gives more acid for the fish).

Put in the oven, preheated at 450 degrees for 20 minutes. (And don’t get tempted to open that oven door!)
