Ridge Hill is a Reason to Visit Westchester

Earlier this month we featured the up-and-coming Long Island City area that has been gaining a lot of notoriety, where new life has come to the development area by Gantry Plaza.

But not too far up – just north of the Bronx – Westchester County has recently began its own development projects, from gentrification of areas that needed improvement, and in the process, the county has also developed a rural area that has been in the making for the last few years.

The City of Yonkers is probably the last place New Yorkers would think about coming over to hang out. Apart from being ‘The Birthplace of Golf,’ it hasn’t really had much going on.

That is, until Ridge Hill finally opened.

Since opening late last year, and after a reported (approximation of) $600M to foot the bill, the 1.2 million square-foot project has given Westchester a new haven. Ridge Hill has opened opportunities for new jobs, new business, and consumer options.

Ridge Hill is, without question, the hottest place in Westchester right now. And New Yorkers shouldn’t sleep on it.

Highlights include a myriad of food options, a brand new movie theatre, and even a small playground for kids. (A LegoLand Center is also opening Spring 2013!)

The line-up of establishments have been really well received so far. Restaurants such as the Yard House, Texas de Brazil, Brio, Evolution Burger (which only sells organic food) and Havana Central have been the stars of the new dining scene revolution here.

H&M, Lord and Taylor, and favorites like Old Navy and the Gap have benefited from the new-look area that they are now able to do business in, as Ridge Hill just has that Americana, family-friendly feel to it.

There’s also a lot of women stores, such as Vera Bradley and Victoria’s Secret.

Oh, and for Cheesecake Factory fans, it’s right across the street to your other favorite place – a pretty big Apple store.

New shops are coming – Ridge Hill is still building. But it has been really exciting so far, and I imagine it will only get better.

A 20 minute drive from Manhattan through the West Side Highway should get you here. If you’re looking to unwind, have some fun, this is the place.

Then again, maybe we should keep this place quiet. It’s nice how it is right now.
