ShadowMe is a new iOS app that allows people to go on stealth mode while using Twitter. Developed by Tendy Apps LLC and available for iPhone, iTouch, iPad, and iPod users who’ve upgraded their systems to the current iOS 6, it lets users pretend to be someone else while browsing the Twitter feed of other people.
In a recent interview, Keith Savitz (co-founder of Tendy Apps) told Social Times about the market ShadowMe is targeting.
“While ShadowMe is especially useful for people who need an introduction or education on Twitter, the app also enhances the Twitter experience for even the most active users by enabling them to shadow avid Twitter users, depending on interests or events. Twitter newbies get quality content, not overwhelming quantity and all users get the engaging, informative, entertaining social TV/second screen experience,” described Savitz.
How to Use ShadowMe
Laid out in dual columns, ShadowMe lets users see their own timelines and the timelines of the people they’re shadowing at the same time. The simultaneous display allows users to switch easily between the different ‘Shadows’ they’re looking at.
Thanks to the iOS 6 integration, ShadowMe can detect authorized Twitter accounts and add them automatically. There’s also no limit to the number of Shadows a user can have.
Shadowing your Favorite Celebrity
The ShadowMe developers encourage users to search and add friends, clients or even their favorite musicians, politicians, athletes or tech gurus. The ShadowMe website offers a few suggestions on Twitter accounts to shadow such as @AdamFetcherOFA (Adam Fetcher, Deputy National Press Secretary for Obama’s Presidential Campaign), @BravoAndy (Andy Cohen, Executive VP of Development and Talent and host of WWHL at Bravo), @mikiebarb (Michael Barbaro, Political Reporter for the New York Times), and @BenKronberg (Ben Kronberg, a NY-based comedian).
The latest version of ShadowMe available for download is Version 2.1. At the moment, the ShadowMe app is only available for iPhone users. The developers of ShadowMe are waiting for the app to become a hit on the iPhone before developing an Android version.
