NEW YouTube Comedy Series Features Filipino Indie Films

“2 Unemployed Critics” is a humorous dialogue between a duo of Filipino Film enthusiasts

It’s the Pinoy Siskel and Ebert-with a comedic twist.

2 Unemployed Critics” is about two guys, Allan and Chuck, who couldn’t keep a job because they talk about movies way too darn much. But Allan and Chuck don’t get in trouble over just any flicks, they argue over indie Filipino movies.

The web series is the first project of RCE Studios, a YouTube production company aiming to put global Filipinos to the spotlight.

2UC’s pilot episode features two indie films that have made a big impact in the global indie circuit: “Amigo” by John Sayles and “The Woman in the Septic Tank” by Marlon Rivera.

Instead of a thumbs up or thumbs down, Allan and Chuck rate the movies using a Barrel man, a popular souvenir gag gift in the Philippines. “Barrel’s up” means they liked the movie, “Barrel’s down” means they didn’t, and “Barrel’s halfway up” if they find the movie good but not great. Of course, Allan and Chuck don’t agree with each other all the time.

You can catch new episodes of “2 Unemployed Critics” every Thursday on RCE Studios.

You may also follow the show on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and Tumblr.
