Press Release for Charity for Orphans “Maya’s Hope”

MAYA’S HOPE CHARITY MAKES SUPERHEROES OUT OF ORPHANS

Changing the face of charities for children, Maya’s Hope recruits volunteers, donations and sponsors for impoverished children in Ukraine and Philippines by calling them fighters, princesses, superstars and superheroes.

New York – Maya’s Hope founder, Maya Rowencak, uses social media to promote her vision of helping impoverished children at an orphanage referred to as Kalinovka, in Zaporozhia, Ukraine and Bethlehem House of Bread in Bulacan, Philippines. Fundraising efforts for this New York City-based charity are essential to providing food, medical supplies, school books and other basic necessities for children at various orphanages in Bulacan and Manila. (Recipient orphanages include Bethlehem House of Bread, San Martin de Porres, Hospicio de San Jose, and others.)

With a total of 87 sponsored children, Maya’s Hope hopes to see that number grow. Maya’s Hope depends on volunteers to organize creative charity events in NYC, like the successful “Glitter Karaoke” that took place at Pulse Karaoke NYC on July 22, 2013 and the upcoming “Glitter Hour” at the Chelsea Manor on August 7, 2013 from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Rowencak has capitalized on social media, especially through Facebook, since founding this non-profit in 2010, gaining over 1700 Facebook followers.  Maya’s Hope currently helps the 120 children and adults with special needs living at Kalinovka in Ukraine and the approximately 100 children at the Bethlehem House of Bread Orphanage, as well as other sub-sites in the Philippines. Besides “Glitter” themes for New York events and t-shirts with the slogan, “Maya’s Hope Superstar,” Maya’s Hope donates 100% of child sponsorship donations to save and improve the lives of the children.

“I founded Maya’s Hope to help children who need hope, education and love,” explains Maya Rowencak. To accomplish this, Maya invested over $15,000 of her money to give Maya’s Hope a chance to survive start-up challenges during difficult economic times without taking administrative costs from child sponsorship. Referring to her sponsored children as “superstars, fighters, princesses and superheroes,” Rowencak raises awareness about children in remote villages who would never be known to the world. Reflecting on her visits to the Philippines and Ukraine, Maya notes “What was interesting was that most of the children couldn’t even understand me because I spoke English. But, they understood love. It’s a universal language.” That love has become writing child sponsorship profiles, generating press, managing Facebook, recruiting volunteers and sponsors, managing specialized projects and fundraisers on nights and weekends, designing graphics, organizing mailings and shipments, and funding the early days of Maya’s Hope. Maya’s Hope has grown with volunteers, ranging from financial and accounting experts to writers to graphic designers, all donating their skills and time to help spread the word about Maya’s Hope.

Maya’s Hope believes in giving hope to children in extreme need through child sponsorship. Sponsorship provides three full meals a day, access to medical care, books and other basic necessities. For $1 a day, sponsors can change the life of Maya’s “superstars” and give them hope for a brighter future.

“Margarita’s Hope” is another sponsorship program, devoted to raising funds for bed-ridden orphans in Ukraine who require formula due to compromised digestive systems.  This program became so successful that it now includes sponsorship of medical emergencies and surgeries.  The “Guardian Angel” sponsorship empowers donors to contribute money towards the salary of caregivers at the Ukrainian orphanage. The Maya’s Hope Lotus Scholarship for children in Bulacan, Philippines gives donors the joy of helping a child finish basic schooling.
