Walkabout NYC’s Tech Edition is on May 17th

In the first inception of this magazine, one of our earliest features (the very first one, in fact), was on the wonderful world of ‘Walkabout NYC.

Walkabout, which was the brainchild of Harvest founders Danny Wen and Shawn Liu holds two annual events, one in the Spring and one in the Fall. Both of these events are essentially work space tours, and through Harvest, some of the most awesome internet startups hold open houses during the spring, while in the fall, advertising agencies take their turn in opening their doors to the public.

In my opinion, the Tech Edition of Walkabout is one of the most fun things to take part in during the spring. And, very quickly, it is becoming one of the most anticipated events in New York City.

You may have heard of some of these names: Facebook, Foursquare, Tumblr, MLB.com, Outbrain – among many, many others hold court and welcome tech and web enthusiasts.

(And if the reservations are filled out, crash the party, anyway.)

Two years ago, we visited some of the most gorgeous workspaces and had fun with some of the coolest people, including the folks at Gawker.com and Patch.com. Gawker’s offices were, at the time, rated as the best workspace in the city, including an awesome roof deck.

We also met Patch’s resident canine, Olive.
