This recipe actually came to me by accident.
For some reason, I happened to have a pack of Yakult that was about to expire in two days, and I didn’t want to waste it. Normally, I usually kill the pack of probiotic goodness in seconds, but in this case I was curious to how else it can serve a purpose for.
So, I found a nice way to utilize it with a couple of fruits in my fridge, some ice and a blender. And, because of the Yakult, there’s no further need to add sugar. (Not that you’d have to with the ripe fruits.) Instead, you have a healthy and delicious smoothie.
Ingredients:
- 3 Fresh ripened mangoes (Philippine mangoes would be most ideal)
- 2 crisp apples
- An entire pack of Yakult (usually comes in fives)
- Ice cubes
Directions:
- Slice your apples up into smaller chunks, and carve out your mangoes.
- After the fruit goes into the blender, add your ice. I would typically use about 2 glasses full of cubes.
- Pour your five tiny Yakult bottles in over the ice.
- Blend and grate to a nice frothy consistency. I tend to like small ice chunks, too, and the grate feature helps with that.
- Pour and serve.
Serves: 3-4 people
